A new IC card that can be used for most train, subway and bus lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area will debut March 18. Pasmo can be used interchangeably with the Suica card of East Japan Railway Co.

Passnet (パスネット) prepaid card

These prepaid cards are single-use—i.e., no recharging. This one's issued by Tōkyō Metro, but it's good on over a dozen train systems in the Kantō plain—almost everything except the JR lines.

Tokyo Metro | SF Metro Card - PASSNET

The SF Metro card is compatible with PASSNET, the cooperative railway prepaid card system.They can be purchased at automatic ticket vending machines, SF Metro Card vending machines, pass offices, station offices, or kiosks.

Suica - (スイカ)

Suica stands for "Super Urban Intelligent CArd", and the pronunciation is also a pun on the Japanese word for watermelon, "suika". In the logo, the "ic" is highlighted, as the initials stand for integrated circuit, the technology inside the smart card.
